Control applications and everyday Mac actions from the same board.

Mac controls are built into CTRL Micro Host, so there is no separate desktop-client version to record.

Requirements

macOS 14 or later.
A paired controller with this Mac selected as its Active Host.
Accessibility for keyboard, window, pointer, and focused-field controls.

Setup

Pair the controller with CTRL Micro Host.
Select Mac from the client picker. Mac is selected automatically on a new installation.
Choose Dock, Recent, or Custom for the six application keys.
Grant Accessibility if you want to use input, window, or joystick controls.

How it works

Application keys use the Dock order, recent application activity, or six assignments you choose. The Host observes the selected layout and reports application state back to the board.

System controls use macOS services where possible. Keyboard, window, pointer, and focused-field actions use Accessibility or process-targeted input. Every action is sent only to the Active Host.

Controls and settings

The default board opens applications, starts Siri, controls volume and mute with the dial, uses the joystick for Mac navigation, dictates into the focused field, and sends Return.

Other assignable controls include media playback, display brightness, Keep Awake, Mission Control, Show Desktop, Spotlight, screenshots, Escape, Lock Mac, and Sleep Display.

Known limitations and troubleshooting

Application and audio controls work without Accessibility. Input, window, pointer, and joystick controls remain unavailable until it is granted.

Dictation stays bound to the writable field that was focused when recording began. Changing the application or field cancels delivery. Return sends one Return keypress; it does not claim that the receiving application performed a semantic Send.
