How it works
The Host reads task metadata from the Codex runtime bundled inside ChatGPT for Mac. It uses the visible Codex sidebar only when Sidebar order is selected, then reconciles those positions with exact task IDs.
Sidebar task keys use Codex's numbered shortcuts. Recent task keys open the exact task ID. Task lifecycle logs provide working, attention, completion, and failure state without resuming or changing a task.
New Task, dictation, Send, approvals, Voice, and other composer actions operate the visible Codex interface. The local App Server supplies metadata only and never submits messages.
Controls and settings
Six task keys open tasks and show their current state. A second tap can preview the latest response when that setting is enabled. The board also exposes New Task, Voice, Approve, Decline, Send, dictation, navigation, and client switching.
Model, reasoning effort, and permission settings can be assigned to the dial. Fast Mode and Plan Mode are also available as assignable controls.
Known limitations and troubleshooting
Sidebar order covers the first six visible Codex positions. Recent order uses the six newest exact task identities instead. A different installed ChatGPT version is shown for context but does not disable the integration.
Actions that create or submit content fail if the expected visible composer cannot be verified. CTRL Micro never falls back to background submission.
